Oscar Acoustics HQ, Oscar Innovation Centre, Formby Rd, Halling, Rochester ME2 1FQ
Oscar Acoustics HQ has been assessed against the Sownd Certified Bronze Framework v1.0 and meets the requirements for Bronze - Acoustic Foundations. The assessment confirmed that the acoustic environment has been designed and verified at completion against human-centred performance standards.
The SOWND Certification Framework is built on five principles that define what it means for a space to be genuinely audio inclusive. Bronze certification requires verified compliance with the first three principles.
| # | SOWND Principle | Bronze Requirement | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Specify Inclusive Performance | Acoustic performance targets are set against human-centred criteria, not just regulatory minimums. | ✓ Met |
| O | Objective Proof | Acoustic performance is measured and documented with objective, verifiable data. | ✓ Met |
| W | User-Ready Delivery | The space is verified at handover as performing to the specified standard. | ✓ Met |
| N | No-Drift Operations | Operational practices maintain acoustic performance day-to-day. (Silver) | – Silver |
| D | Distinctive Experience | The full end-to-end experience is optimised for comfort, choice, and reliable participation. (Gold) | – Gold |

Route used: Direct Independent Assessment
Solution installed: Acoustic spray treatment to ceilings across all spaces (Oscar Acoustics)
Framework: Sownd Certified Bronze Framework v1.0
Tier assessed: Bronze - Acoustic Foundations
What Bronze verifies: That the acoustic environment has been designed against human-centred performance targets (Specify), measured with objective data (Objective Proof), and confirmed as performing to standard at completion (User-Ready Delivery).
Measurements taken in unoccupied conditions.
Standards: BS EN ISO 3382-2:2008 (reverberation time); BS EN 61672-1:2013 Class 1 instrumentation
SOWND Certification Framework thresholds are aligned with PAS 6463:2022 criteria for neurodivergent-inclusive environments, and BS 8233:2014.
A thorough desktop review of the acoustic measurement data for this space is conducted annually to confirm no material changes have occurred. If no valid measurement data is available, an in-person measurement is commissioned. Physical re-assessment is triggered by significant alterations to room layout, acoustic treatment, or building use.
